5. Chris Masters
In all honesty, WWE fans should (some probably do) completely disregard his second run with the company. It was a real disaster, as Masters was shockingly booked at the lower end of the card. That led to little momentum, and very little success. But go back to the mid-2000s, and the WWE had a certified main event star on their hands who had something that nobody else had at that time.
The Master Lock challenges that Masters rolled out on a weekly basis were great, and gave him a real distinct place on the WWE roster. He actually has the record for most Full Nelson submission victories in WWE history, and it led to a run for the WWE Championship not long after his WWE debut. A feud with Shawn Michaels also proved what a talent Masters was, as did his first feud for the title against John Cena. We all know what Cena’s gimmick about never giving up consists of, but Masters actually became the first WWE wrestler to render Cena unconscious. These were all clear signs that the WWE were going to pin a major belt on Masters at some point, but it simply never happened.
He’s been in the news away from wrestling of late, after saving his mother’s life following an arson attack at her home. Masters broke a ten-foot tree with his bare hands, before using it to free her from the burning building. Now, if that isn’t worthy of Masters getting another shot, I don’t know what is! Could the Master Lock challenges make a return to WWE in the near future?
