10 Depressing WWE Career Free Falls 9

9. Ryback

Remember “feed me more?” well, Ryback must be awful hungry these days because the only thing he’s eating is pinfalls. We were first introduced to the human meat eating machine during the first season of NXT when he was fun loving, cowboy hat wearing Skip Sheffield. Yes, a man named Skip. Did WWE really think anyone would buy a shirt with a big muscular beast on it with the words “Skip?”
Ryback’s Peak: For months, Ryback was booked as the second coming of The Ultimate Warrior or Goldberg. Fans were slow to catch on, as they clearly smelled a copy cat. Eventually he was starting to get over, but was then recklessly thrust into the main event of Hell in a Cell 2012 when John Cena went down with an injury. Ryback hadn’t even wrestled on the previous two pay-per-views, and we were now supposed to buy him as a top star.
Where he is Now: Still paired up with Curtis Axel for some reason. They joined forces in the first place because they were both Paul Heyman guys. After Heyman dumped them for bigger and better things they stuck together. Just a couple of losers enjoying their losing ways together. Ryback is now one of the most destructible men on the roster, a far cry from the days of when he could beat three men at once.
Chance of a Comeback: 25%.
I imagine that Vince McMahon will give him another shot as a babyface sooner or later. He’s still in his early 30s, so he has years left to turn things around. The problem is we’ve seen him lose so easily, so many times that it will be difficult to ever take him seriously as a top guy again. The other issue with Ryback is that he never seems to improve in the ring. At best, he’s mediocre. McMahon does love his muscle men, though, so maybe if he’s low on faces he may try to feed on some Ryback once more.
