1. Jeff Hardy
Realistically, there could have only been one guy who sat at the top of this list. Ever since he debuted alongside brother Matt, Jeff Hardy has gone on to become one of the biggest high-fliers in the history of the WWE, let alone the 21st century. And if a return to the company ever transpires one day, expect the extreme moments to keep on coming.
We touched on perhaps his most infamous extreme moment when discussing Edge earlier; that iconic spear off the top of the ladder that set the tone for a whole generation of up-and-coming risk taking stars. Hardy had all the look of a daredevil and a guy that played by his own rules – and at times throughout his singles career, there wasn’t a star in the world that could compare to Jeff Hardy.
So often throughout his career, Hardy has taken the extreme option over the safe one – simply in order to thrill the fans. Take his match involvement in the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania 23; the briefcase was there for the taking, but Hardy decided instead to leap off the ladder, over the ropes and deliver a staggering leg drop on his old foe Edge. His feud with CM Punk is perhaps his greatest and most entertaining feud, though – and it brought yet more unbelievable risk taking moments. It was the TLC match that once again provided a fitting backdrop, as Hardy delivered an outrageous Swanton Bomb off the top of a ladder onto a hapless Punk. A year earlier, he had flung himself 40 feet off the top of the set to drop Randy Orton in perhaps the most outrageous spot in WWE history, too.
Of course, there are many more moments that could be listed to further back up the point that Hardy is the biggest risk taker of the 21st century. His career is littered full of death-defying leaps, and he seems to still be able to maintain that high level of extremity 15 years into his career. WWE fans will be beside themselves if Hardy ever returns one day – because the action will just get better and better with Jeff Hardy in our lives again.
