5. Arena Incidents
When it comes to accidents in the workplace, Undertaker seems to always be at the centre of WWE production mess ups. He got caught on fire at Elimination Chamber 2010, in a malfunction of his fiery ring entrance. The biggest controversy came in 2008 at WrestleMania 24, Undertaker had just overcome Edge in the main event for the World Championship. Marking this sense of occasion was a range of fireworks, Taker’s big moment was perfect. Except for the fact his firework pyro was nearly killing people in the stands.
In a hugely dangerous malfunction, a hot cable of pyrotechnics was launched into the upper bowl of Orlando, Florida’s 74,000 capacity Citrus Bowl. This left 45 people injured, some needing hospitalisation. Undertaker’s glorious moment was marred in controversy, a PR disaster for WWE that overshadowed the main event. What consequences came of Taker’s pryo disaster? We don’t know, WWE never released details of their investigation, which suggests they came to some hushed up settlement with fans.
“While we apologize to anyone who was injured and/or alarmed by this occurrence, we take solace in the fact that the reported injuries were minor.” WWE stated in a brief press
