10 WWE Stars Who Made Amazing Recoveries From Drug Addiction 8

8. Sean Waltman

“And then you’ve got a guy, Syxx, 1-2-3 Kid, his name’s Sean Waltman. Whatever you want to call him. As far as I’m concerned, the only reason he’s employed is because the other guys think he’s funny when he gets drunk and throws up on himself.” – Jim Cornette cutting a shoot promo of sorts on WCW and the nWo in particular in 1997.
Yes, Sean Waltman’s drug problems were once such common knowledge that Jim Cornette cut a promo on Raw where he belittled him.   Several years later, after he had been back in WWE for years, Mick Foley, then figurehead commissioner, cut a promo where he made a cryptic reference to him disappearing, which had similar connotations.
After years of problems, it finally clicked for him after WWE found the right treatment facility for him.  The victim of much childhood trauma, he needed more than strictly drug rehab.  Instead, WWE put him in what’s called a dual diagnosis facility: One where the staff specializes in treating underly emotional issues from depression to post-traumatic stress disorder.  A lot of wrestlers needed clarity, but he needed traditional mental health care, and it helped him dramatically.
