10 Reasons You Need To Respect John Cena 4

4. He Can Put “Butts In Seats” With His Promos

While he does have that “goofy” side already mentioned, he can switch into a level of intensity that is rarely seen in wrestling these days in the blink of an eye. The promos he cuts when he’s in “super serious” mode are some of the best of this generation.
Promos against the likes of The Rock, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, and many more have been phenomenal when he switches gears, going from the Cena that children love to the Cena that adults used to love. He knows how to fire an audience up and get them excited for pay-per-view (or big television) matches, which is ironic, since everyone likes to say he always wins. If you feel he “always wins”, and he can still get you pumped up for his big match coming up, he must be doing something right, no?
When discussing his promos, many fans often go back to his days of rapping, back when he was known as the “Doctor Of Thuganomics”, and for good reason. His raps were fresh, especially in the world of wrestling, and they were hip. He was pushing buttons that nobody else was able to push at the time. He has, obviously, become more family-friendly since dropping the rapping gimmick, but he has the innate ability to get his point across when he really wants to. Pay-per-views are purchased and tickets are bought because of the promos he cuts.
