5 Things WWE Did Right At Battleground

4 Rusev Showed He Can Have Longer Matches That Are Entertaining

The match between the “Real American” Jack Swagger and Rusev was a physical battle that went about ten minutes long. While neither man was able to win via pinfall or submission, Rusev showed that he was capable of having a match longer than the three minute wins we are used to seeing from him.
What was noticeable about the match from the outset was that the crowd was into the action from the moment Lana was out there doing a promo praising Russia and ripping the United States. While the promo has upset some fans, it was one of those old school type of wrestling promos that was done to generate heat, which it did.
It looked like Swagger might actually get the win as he put the Patriot Lock on Rusev and nearly made him tap out, but Rusev got to the ropes. Swagger didn’t let up, though. That’s what made the match fun to watch because he really showed a lot of energy in trying to make the “Russian” submit. Rusev ended up sending Swagger into the ring post, which kept Swagger down for the count. Post match, Rusev applied the Accolade submission to send a message.
A countout finish may not be popular, but it will lead to an even greater response when these two guys have their next match most likely at SummerSlam in four weeks.
