3. Mick Foley
Mrs. Foley’s baby boy can’t leave the spotlight behind. However, social media posts that are critical of the current product are far safer for Foley than bleeding, bumping and being set on fire, so, let’s all be glad for that. All once-retired pro wrestlers are left in a perpetual state of semi-retirement for the rest of their careers. There’s something heart-breakingly desperate about Foley’s attempts at achieving relevancy and sadly smartly retaining a connection to the product without hurting himself on purpose anymore. It’s a sad statement on the old school traditions of pro wrestling that if Foley came back and cut his written harangues as in-ring promos and took another Pedigree from Triple H that possibly risking debilitating injury would mean more and appear less desperate than his written words. Diminishing the excellence of one’s in-ring exploits by exercising caution and discretion is a concept that is frustrating, unfortunate and discomforting to contemplate.
