Vince McMahon will never understand, but the vast majority of people who watch wrestling actually watch because they like wrestling. That’s what the majority of fans can agree on, that they tune in to see entertaining personalities face off in simulated combat. If you take any musician, no matter who it is, only a small portion of the audience is going to be entertained by them. The Beatles could somehow reform and most fans would still decide to leave their seats for a bathroom break.
Just listen to the crowd’s reaction to Flo Rida for an example of why music acts don’t work in wrestling. Most fans just wanted it to be over with and to yell nonsense chants again. WWE had to keep cutting back to the same group of small fans who were actually into Flo.
It also just irks me to no end when someone from outside of the world of professional wrestling comes in and is shown to be physically superior to a wrestler. It just makes no sense. We’ve seen that talk show host Michael Strahan is tougher than The Miz, 66-year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger is too, and Hugh Jackman is better than Dolph Ziggler and Damien Sandow. Probably combined times two. So why does WWE hire these guys if they can so easily be bested by celebrities? Shouldn’t the celebrities be the champions? Had Freddy Prinze Jr. wanted to be a wrestler instead of a creative team member how many WWE Title runs would he have had right now?
