6 Greatest WWE Feuds Of The 90s (3)

3. The Undertaker vs. Kane

Paul Bearer’s revelation that Undertaker’s brother Kane was still alive shook the Dead Man’s world to its core and led to accusations of murder, a story of revenge, hellfire and brimstone for WWE in 1997. Not only did Bearer stun his former associate and charge with the news of Kane’s existence, he claimed that Undertaker was responsible for the fire that killed his parents and horribly disfigured Kane. When the Big Red Monster made his debut in October at the Badd Blood pay-per-view, it only made sense that he would leave his brother lying, the first chapter in a story that would play out over the next two decades.
At first, Undertaker refused to fight Kane, citing a promise he made to his parents many years earlier. Kane’s betrayal of his brother after a fake reunion in January changed his mind and at WrestleMania XIV, the two heavyweights clashed in an epic battle. Undertaker withstood the punishing offense of his sibling to deliver three Tombstones and preserve his undefeated streak at the Showcase of the Immortals. A month later, history repeated itself as Undertaker again set his brother ablaze, winning the first Inferno match in WWE history in the process.
The feud would rage on throughout the remainder of 1998 and well into the new Millennium. Undertaker and Kane would be enemies, then allies, then enemies again, constantly adding to one of the most storied rivalries in company history.
