4. Be Humble
Both in wrestling and in real life, nobody does humility better than Daniel Bryan.
Indeed, he has been described as “the world’s most humble man” and that comes across in the ring with his humble technical style, it comes across when he talks about his success – downplaying it as only such a genuinely nice and easy-going guy could – and it comes across in his activities outside of wrestling (some of which we will get to in the next entry).
This is all epitomised from an interview Bryan had with Matt Dery of Detroit Sports 105.1 about his career. He said:
“I don’t ever think in terms of ‘making it.’ Success is a funny thing, because as soon as you reach one goal you have other goals. And that’s in any business. If you would’ve asked me before I even got to WWE if I had made it just based on my independent career in wrestling internationally, I would say to you, ‘Yeah.’ Even if that was the end of it, I didn’t have to do anything but put on spandex tights and go out and wrestle in front of people.”
A lot of people who haven’t achieved half the success of Daniel Bryan should take note. Be humble – you never know when you’ll be taken down a peg or two.
